August 06, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

di/dt Inc. (Carlsbad, CA) announced its new SQM48T/S25 Series of 25A, one-eighth brick, dc/dc converters, which are the third series of products in di/dt’s SemiQ family. They are suitable for use in the telecom and datacom industries. The new converters come in an open-frame package that does not require a heatsink, and feature a package size that is only 60 percent the area of the industry-standard quarter brick, deliver up to 25A of output current with minimal derating at elevated temperatures and low airflow, are assembled with 100-percent automation, have dimensions of 0.9in x 2.3in x 0.28in (22.8mm x 58.4mm x 7.1mm), and weigh only 18.5g (0.66oz).

The SQM Series operates from an input voltage of 36V to 75V and is available in standard output voltages of 2.5V, 2.0V, 1.8V, 1.5V and 1.2V. The converters come in both through-hole and surface-mount packages. The surface-mount version is shipped in tape-and-reel packing to facilitate automatic handling and pick-and-place assembly. The SQM48 converters meet the basic insulation requirements of EN60950, and come complete with industry-standard features, including remote sense, input under-voltage lockout, thermal shutdown, remote on/off, output-voltage adjust pin, output over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit protections.

In quantities of 1,000 pieces, the 25A SQM Series is priced at $62. Samples are available now.
