Camden Launches BEG Series Electrolyte Batteries

October 13, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Camden Electronics Ltd. (St. Albans, Hertfordshire, UK) has launched a new range of valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries featuring gelled electrolyte construction for completely spill-proof and leak-proof operation. The new BEG Series batteries are offered in 6V and 12V versions with a wide range of capacities from 7.5Ah to 230Ah. The gelled electrolyte construction offers numerous advantages over absorbent glass mat construction in many applications, including telecommunications, photovoltaics, solar and wind power, electric vehicles, and portable medical equipment.

Completely maintenance-free and sealed, the BEG Series batteries offer increased durability and deep cycle ability for heavy-duty applications. Features include zero stratification due to immobilized electrolytes, fully tank-formed plates, valve-regulation (2.5psi maximum internal pressure), multi-position usage, a UL94V0 case and cover, low self-discharge characteristics, and CE /UL approvals.

Specifications include a design life of 12 years, an operating temperature range from –20°C to +50°C, a calcium/tin lead-alloy grid, fully tank-formed flat-pasted plates, a micro-porous duro-plastic separator, and analytical-grade purity sulphuric acid electrolyte. Various types of terminal options are available, including lead flag, automotive, J type, copper flag, J type adapter and insert.
