California Micro Intros CM3112-12 LDO Regulator

New Products Jun 01, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

California Micro Devices Corp. (Milpitas, CA) introduced the new CM3112-12 low-voltage (LDO) regulator, which provides a stable output voltage without an external output capacitor, and is designed to specifically work with VRM/VRD 10.0-compliant PC motherboards. The regulator is capable of providing the power sequencing information required by Pentium 4 processors. The CM3112-12 draws 90µA during operation and features a "zero current" disable mode, making it suitable for notebooks and PC adapter cards.

Available as a SOT23-5 device, the IC incorporates a 1.2V, 150mA, LDO regulator with a power-good control signal for VID power sequencing. The power-good signal is generated by a supply voltage supervisor with a built-in delay of 1µs to 10µs, to allow proper power-up sequencing of the processor. On-resistance is measured at 50 ohms. Protection features include foldback current-limiting and thermal shutdown.
