California Micro Devices Intros CSPESD30x ICs
California Micro Devices Corp. (Milpitas, CA) announced the release of three single-chip ESD protection devices packaged in CSPs, which are designed to protect mobile applications such as cell phones and PDAs. The CSPESD30x family of application-specific ESD devices provide up to 15kV ESD contact protection, two times more than the level required by the IEC61000-4-2 Level 4 standard. The devices are also claimed to withstand a minimum of 1,000 repeated ESD strikes without any degradation in ESD protection.
The devices are packaged in CSPs - which translates to a 50 percent space reduction compared to discrete implantations - and are available in one-channel (CSPESD301), two-channel (CSPESD302) and three-channel (CSPESD303) configurations. The CSPESD303 is currently sampling, and is priced at $0.26 each in 1,000 units. Volume production is scheduled for March 2003. The CSPESD301 and CSPESD302 will sample in March 2003, and will be priced at $0.16 and $0.20, respectively, for quantities of 1,000 units.
