Calex Offers MH and MHW Series DC Converters

New Products Aug 15, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Calex Manufacturing Co. Inc. (Concord, CA) offered its 30 W MH and MHW Series of dc-dc converters, which are a cost-effective alternative to "brick" solutions and provide a 4:1 input range for applications requiring a wide input-voltage tolerance, such as 12 V and 24 V battery-powered applications. The MHW models feature an ultra-wide input range of either 9 Vdc to 36 Vdc or 18 Vdc to 75 Vdc, while the MH models feature the industry-standard input ranges of either 18 Vdc to 36 Vdc or 36 Vdc to 75 Vdc. Both series offer output voltages ranging from 5 Vdc to 24 Vdc.

The MH and MHW models are housed in a six-sided, shielded, 1.6 in x 2 in copper case with an operating range up to 100 °C. The MH/MHW Series also provides useful features such as positive or negative on/off logic control, output-voltage trim, and a variety of case grounding options. The trim range for the series is ±10 percent. All models are isolated input to output with an isolation voltage of 1,544 Vdc. Input-to-output capacitance is 500 pF. The switching frequency of the MH/MHW Series is 400 kHz. Line-and-load regulation is 0.02 percent and 0.1 percent, respectively. Output noise is typically 50 mV peak-to-peak measured over a 20 MHz bandwidth. All models provide continuous short-circuit protection.

The MHW and MH Series are backed by a five-year warranty. Pricing is $39.90 for 1,000-unit quantities. Units are available from stock to four weeks.
