Calex Introduces COTS DC-DC Converters With New Filter Module

April 17, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Calex Mfg. Co., Inc. introduced its CBAM™ line of power products which allows Calex dc-dc converters to be used in military and avionics applications. This modular approach is said to allow the system designer to meet stringent MIL-STD requirements while enjoying the benefits of commercial pricing.

One example of the CBAM™ offering is the EFIL-28 filter module. The EFIL-28 is designed for use with Calex dc-dc converters and allows the system designer to comply with the requirements of MIL-STD-461E, CE101 and CE102. The EFIL-28 is rated up to 200W and can provide filtering for up to two Calex dc-dc converters. Higher output power filters are available. The EFIL-28 has an input range of 9.5 to 36Vdc to accommodate 24 and 28V systems.

The module utilizes aluminum substrate technology and provides 99% efficiency. The EFIL-28 is said to provide an all ceramic solution for high reliability. The unit is housed in a 2.3 x 2.4 x 0.5" H package. Isolation from the baseplate to the pins is 700Vdc. The baseplate operating temperature range is -40 to 100°C. The EFIL-28 is available with either RoHS or non-RoHS construction.
