Calex Manufacturing Co. Inc. (Concord, CA) announced its BR Series of wide-input range, dc/dc converters, which offer 15W of output power in an industry-standard 1in x 2in package with two input ranges of 9Vdc to 36Vdc and 18Vdc to 72Vdc. Output voltages range from 1.8Vdc to 15Vdc. All models are isolated input-to-output.
The input range of the BR Series allows the system designer to utilize a single converter solution to cover a variety of power sources, such as 12V battery and 24Vdc. The BR Series provides a tightly regulated output over the entire input-voltage range. Line regulation is 0.02%. Load regulation is 0.1%. Output noise is typically 1% of Vout. The switching frequency of the BR Series is 400kHz.
The operating temperature range of the BR Series is -40°C to +100°C case. The unit is encapsulated with a thermally conductive potting compound in a shielded copper case for improved thermal performance in still-air environments. The thermal impedance of the BR Series is 15°C/W. The mean time between failure is greater than one million hours. The BR Series is UL approved.
