BI Technologies Develops JSF F35 Linear Sensor
The Electronic Components Division of BI Technologies (Fullerton, CA), a subsidiary of TT electronics plc (Patterson, NJ), has developed a linear position sensor to be used in the braking system of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF). The new design, based on BI’s Model 400 Series, is a precision potentiometer/position sensor for the rudder pedal assembly adjuster of the JSF F35.
The compact 0.5 in stroke length linear sensor is the actual interface between the dc output and the hydraulic braking system, creating an effective "brake-by-wire" system. The linear sensor features dual independent outputs and a long life of five million actuations. The sensor offers a standard resistance tolerance of 10%, a minimum practical resistance tolerance of 1%, dielectric strength of 1,000 Vrms, a minimum insulation resistance of 1,000 megaohms, a temperature coefficient of -800 ppm/°C to ±100 ppm/°C, and a static operating temperature range of –55 °C to +125 °C.
Pricing for the 400 Series sensor starts at $360 each in quantities of 25 pieces. Lead times vary based on custom specifications and start at 12 weeks.
