BCComponents Intros NTC Thermistor Sensors

November 17, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

BCComponents International BV (Eindhoven, the Netherlands) announced its new long-leaded, negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor sensors that combine high electrical accuracy with superior humidity and thermal cycling features. The NTC thermistors are suitable for refrigerator, freezer, air conditioning and floor heating applications.

The sensors are available with PVC single or double insulated cables in line with EN60730/VDE Class I or Class II insulation requirements. The Class 1 insulated thermistor has a withstand voltage of 1,500Vac and the Class II device is rated at 3,750Vac. The minimum insulation resistance in both cases is 100MW. The new NTC thermistors offer options for PCB edge connector, PCB insertion, PCB soldering, wire-to-wire or terminal block insertion.

Available in various mechanical versions, including custom plastic cap diameters and lead lengths, the sensors also benefit from the company’s well-known electrical features such as a broad range of R25 values.

A high adhesive strength between the PVC wire and encapsulating material allows for greater durability, particularly in conditions of high humidity, while response time in temperature change varies from 10 to 60 seconds, according to the sensor type.
