AVX Debuts NOS Series OxiCap Electrolyte Capacitors

AVX Corp. (Myrtle Beach, SC), a manufacturer and supplier of passive electronic components and related products, announced the new ultra-low-ESR version of its OxiCap™ niobium oxide (NbO) solid electrolyte capacitors, which have been designed as lead-free and halogen-free as well as non-burn up to rated voltage.

The NOS Series OxiCap™ devices offer ESR performance down to 55 mΩ, reliability characteristics of 0.2% per 1,000 hours (500,000 hours mean time between failure), and a temperature rating up to 125 °C. Voltage range is 1.8 V to 6.3 V, with a 10 V version to be released in 2005. The OxiCap Series capacitors are suitable for applications such as notebook and laptop computers, automotive electronics, mobile phones, and PDAs.

Pricing for the NOS OxiCap Series capacitors ranges from $0.30 to $0.40 in quantities of 10,000 units, with lead times from four to six weeks and samples available immediately.
