August 13, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Ault Inc. (Minneapolis, MN) announced its new BCM family of wide-range battery chargers for NiMH and NiCd topologies. The BCM Series includes 12 models for each battery topology and can charge multiple cell packs, including three to six, five to ten, and eight to twelve cells. Ault's BCM family is suitable for use with portable electronic consumer products, home health-care equipment, personal information appliances and data-acquisition equipment.

The BCM family features a programmable controller that offers users a choice of three charger-pack sizes and four different charge lengths: 1.5hrs, 3hrs, 6hrs or 9hrs. The BCM fast-charge varies based on the battery-pack size. The three to six cell charges up to a 1.5A; the five to ten cell charges up to a 1.2A, and the eight to twelve cell charges up to 1.0A.

The BCM Series of battery charges is constructed in a black polycarbonate case measuring 4.22in x 2.60in x 1.51in. The charger weighs 13oz and has an IEC 320-with-ground configuration. It carries safety-agency approvals for UL 1950, CSA950 and TUV/EN60950. Modified and custom designs are also available to meet specific OEM requirements.
