Ault Announces BVL Series Battery Chargers

March 20, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Ault Inc. (Minneapolis, MN) announced its new two-stage lead-acid battery chargers, the BVL Series, to meet the growing needs for powering portable home health care, industrial and backup telecom equipment. The new charger optimizes the life of lead-acid batteries by providing protection against “memory effect,” the gradual reduction of power, caused by repeated partial and/or fast charging of batteries. The BVL Series chargers include automatic voltage switch-over technology that senses battery current, drives it to a predetermined level and then transfers the charge from fast to float.

The BVL Series features both fast and float charges ranging from 7.35Vdc to 29.40Vdc and 6.90Vdc to 27.60Vdc, respectively. LED indicators show on/off and battery charged/discharged statuses. To meet the low-power requirements for a broad range of portable equipment, six BVL Series models are available. Ault features two models in each of the following voltages: 6V, 12V and 24V. Constructed in a black, impact-resistant polycarbonate case measuring 4.20in x 2.60in x 1.46in, the charger weighs 10oz and has an IEC 320 with ground configuration rating. The charger complies with EMI-RFI regulations and carries safety agency approvals for CULus 1950, and TUV/EN60950. Modified and custom designs are also available to meet specific OEM requirements.

The new charger is available for under $20 in OEM quantities beginning at 1,000 units.
