Astec Power Intros New LPS125 Switcher

March 03, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Astec Power (Carlsbad, CA) announced the introduction of its LPS125 switcher - the first model in its new high-density power supply family. Weighing in at 6.7W/in³, it can deliver up to 130W total power. Featuring active power-factor correction to minimize input harmonic distortion, the LPS125 is a compact 85Vac to 264Vac power supply that is suitable for 1U (1.75in) rack installations and telecommunications, networking, test and measurement, single-board computer and gigabit Ethernet device applications.

The unit can deliver its full rated output of 130W with 30 CFM forced air or 80W with convection cooling. Only 1.29in high, the LPS125 has a compact footprint of only 3in x 5in and can be set up for lengthwise or crosswise airflow. The device also features a 12V at 1/2A auxiliary output and 5V at 1/2A standby output, as well as overload, over-voltage and thermal protection.

The LPS125 has an operating temperature range of 0°C to 50°C without derating and can function up to 70°C by derating the output 2.5 percent per degree C. It includes IEC EN61000-3-2 harmonic and IEC EN61000-4-X susceptibility compliance. The LPS125 demonstrates a mean time between failures of over 550,000 hours at full load in 25°C ambient conditions. It also complies with worldwide safety and performance standards from UL, CSA, VDE, NEMKO, CB and CE.

Available now, pricing begins at $95 in OEM quantities.
