Astec Power Debuts Breaker Interface Panel

New Products Sep 30, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Astec Power (Carlsbad, CA) announced the addition of its new Breaker Interface Panel (BIP) to its line of telecommunications products. The BIP, also known as a power distribution unit, power distribution panel or frame supervisory panel, improves system power stability and provides a convenient, centralized location for all customer-load circuit breakers.

Housed in a low-profile, 2U high, 23in rack-mountable frame, the BIP has four separate 100A input power feeds, and supports redundant A and B input connections. The BIP accepts a wide input-voltage range of –40Vdc to –75Vdc, and holds four dc circuit-breaker modules, each of which can accommodate up to five 5A to 25A breakers. The breaker modules can be hot-swapped in the field without service interruption.

The breaker modules can be ordered with a variety of 5A, 10A, 20A or 25A rated breakers installed. Each module also comes equipped with a 28,200µF capacitor bank and on-board inrush current-limiting circuitry.

The BIP complies with worldwide safety and performance standards, including UL, CSA, EN and Bellcore. Available now, pricing starts at $2,158 per panel.
