APC Unveils Powerstax H201 Series DC-DC Converters

December 19, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Advanced Power Conversion plc (APC, Farnborough, England) unveiled its H201 Series dc-dc converter, specially designed for Power-over-Ethernet applications, to the POWERSTAX range of products. Designed to meet UL60950, EN60950 and CE mark requirements, the Powerstax H201 was developed to comply with the IEEE 802.3af standard 2,250 Vdc isolation. The Powerstax H201 range provides up to 200 W of power in an industry-standard, half-brick-package size of 61.0 mm x 57.9 mm x 12.7 mm (2.40 in x 2.30 in x 0.40 in).

The Powerstax H201 Series has an input-voltage range of 35 V to 75 V and provides a precisely regulated 52.5 V output. The high efficiency of up to 92.5% at full load minimizes power dissipation and helps simplify thermal management. Operating on a fixed frequency with adjustable output voltage, the open-frame module has a comprehensive range of features, including over-temperature protection, input under-voltage lockout and output over-current protection. Other functions incorporate output over-voltage protection and remote sense and remote on/off. The H201 Series offers an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C, and a calculated mean time between failure of two million hours.
