Anderson Power Products Offers Environmental Boot

Anderson Power Products, Inc. (APP) announced a new addition to the SB® Environmental Boot Series, with the release of their SB®50 Environmental Boot. Ideal for a wide range applications both indoors and out, the SB® Environmental Boots' soft shell provides water, dirt, chemical and UV protection to SB® 50 and SB® 120 connectors. This IP64 rated, durable boots shield the connectors from water and dirt in both the mated and unmated condition.

SB® Environmental Boots are designed for both inline and surface mount applications. Mounting is achieved with the use of wire tie or band clamp. The boots feature markings for easy trimming of the boot to accommodate the proper AWG or mm wire size. The SB50 and SB120 connectors are rated to carry 120A and 240A, respectively.

APP’s SB series is based on the original “Storage Battery” connector that pioneered flat wiping contact technology over a half century ago. Two to three positions in a genderless mechanically-keyed housing are suitable for a wide array of power connection applications. These connectors feature silver- or tin-plated contacts inside housings that strongly force the contacts together for a low-resistance contact. The stainless steel springs create a robust force between the contacts that holds the connector in the mated condition.
