Anderson Power Products Announces New Extended Range Contacts

Anderson Power Products (APP) announced the "Extended Range Contacts" for the SB120, PP120 & PP180 "Plus" Connectors. APP’s new "Extended Range Contacts" are the latest addition to the standard PP and SB connector series. These contacts are designed to provide additional design flexibility and value to customers by allowing larger wire sizes to be used. This increases the amperage capability without enlarging APP’s robust SB120, PP120 and PP180 connectors.

As the demand for higher power utilizing less space continues to grow, APP’s team of experienced engineers redesigned certain features of the contacts to accommodate larger wire sizes. This slight change in the contact design does not alter the housings, allowing for more power in a smaller package.

These new contacts can be used wherever PP’s and SB’s are currently being used, specifically the telecommunications and power electronic industries, where increased power and decreased space is a constant goal for design engineers. Other markets would include UPS manufacturers, material handling, personal mobility, electric vehicles and battery charger manufacturers.

The "SB120 Plus" Connectors will now accept a #1 AWG (42.4 mm²) wire size. The "PP120 Plus" Connectors will also accept a #1 AWG (42.4 mm²) and a #1/0 (53.5 mm²) wire size. Finally, the "PP180 Plus" Connectors will accept a #2/0 (67.4 mm²) and #3/0 (85 mm²) wire size. The new "Extended Range" contacts will be crimped using APP’s existing crimp tools.
