AnalogicTech Unveils AAT1152 Buck DC-DC Converter

January 16, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Advanced Analogic Technologies Inc. (AnalogicTech, Sunnyvale, CA), a developer of power management solutions, unveiled its new AAT1152 fully integrated, 850 kHz, 1 A, buck dc-dc converter, which adds a Power-OK (POK) function that monitors the output, alerting the system if the output voltage falls out of regulation. The device architecture features full internal compensation, reducing the need for external components and conserving valuable board space.

The AAT1152 supports fixed inputs from 2.7 V to 5 V, and outputs are fixed or adjustable from 1 V to 4.2 V (depending on the options selected). The device features low on-resistance 110 mΩ MOSFET switches and achieves up to 95% efficiency. In addition, the dc-dc converter operates in constant PWM mode, producing low ripple across the entire load spectrum. The AAT1152's high stability supports the use of low-cost, compact, ceramic capacitors. A digital soft-start limits surge current during startup. The AAT1152 also features comprehensive current-limit and over-temperature protection circuits.

The AAT1152 is available in an eight-lead MSOP package. The device is rated over the extended industrial temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C, and is priced at $1.22 in 1,000-piece quantities.
