Analog Integration Offers USB Power Switch

New Products Jan 05, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Analog Integration Corp. has launched a series of USB (Universal Serial Bus) Power Switch ICs, called AIC1525/AIC1526/AIC1528/AIC1529, for self-powered and bus-powered applications. The high-side switch MOSFET with either 70 mΩ or 110mΩ on resistance (depending on the model), meets USB voltage drop requirements for maximum transmission wire length.

They provide applications with benefits of circuit reliability and low cost by eliminating the need for external components. AIC1525 and AIC1526 are 500mA USB power switch IC that are one channel and two channels respectively. AIC1528 and AIC1529 are 1A USB power switch that are two channels and four channels respectively.

A multi-purpose open-drain fault flag output indicates over-current limiting, thermal shutdown, or under voltage lockout for each channel. These devices provide all protection functions: over-current limiting, short-circuit protection, thermal protection, and under voltage lockout.

Enable active-high and active low make shutdown control by firmware much easier for users. Low on-state supply current, typical 75µA for AIC1525 and 110µA for AIC1526/AIC1528 and 220µA for AIC1529, makes these devices well suited for low standby power application.

The series are available in DIP8, SOP8, MSOP8, DIP16 and SOP16 packages.
