Analog Devices Intros anyCAP LDO Additions

January 17, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Analog Devices Inc. (ADI, Norwood, MA) announced new additions to its anyCAP LDO line of power management chips. The first pair, the ADP3338 and ADP3339 LDOs, strengthen ADI's portfolio. The ADP3338 and ADP3339 offer users a low dropout and high precision 1A and 1.5A LDO. The ADP3338 and ADP3339 are suitable for a wide array of applications, including cable boxes, audio/entertainment systems, power sources for embedded DSP- and microcontroller-based systems, wireless base stations, USB hubs, external DSL/cable modems, and routers.

In addition, ADI also introduced its lower-current LDOs, the ADP3333 and ADP3334, which provide an accuracy of 1.8 percent and an ultra-low dropout voltage, featuring output currents of 300mA and 500mA, respectively. The devices also include a safety current limit, thermal overload protection and a shutdown feature. In shutdown mode, the ground current is reduced to less than 1µA. Applications for these chips include PCMCIA cards, power sources for embedded DSP- and microcontroller-based systems, personal digital assistants, networking systems, external modems, portable CDs, MP3 players, and cable set-top boxes.

The ADP3338 is available at $1.40 per unit in 1,000-piece quantities, while the ADP3339 is priced at $1.65 per unit in 1,000-piece quantities, both in SOT-223 packages. The ADP3333 is available at $0.99 per unit in 1,000-piece quantities, in an eight-lead MSOP package, while the ADP3334 is priced at

$1.23 per unit in 1,000-piece quantities, in an eight-lead SOIC package.
