Anadigics Releases AWL6152 Power Amp Module

New Products Aug 13, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Anadigics Inc. (Warren, NJ) released the AWL6152 power amplifier module for 802.11b and 802.11g wireless local area network systems. The 4mm x 4mm x 1.5mm, surface-mount, module package combines an InGaP HBT IC amplifier along with passive components to provide a low-cost solution that requires few external components for biasing and none for RF impedance matching into a 50-ohm system.

Using an 802.11g modulation format running at 54Mbps, the module delivers a 2.5% error-vector magnitude (EVM) at 22dBm output power, using a 3.3V supply. Biased with 5V, the product delivers an EVM of 3% at 26dBm. Current consumption under the conditions is 250mA for the 3.3V, 22dBm case, and 360mA for the 5V, 26dBm operation.

The power amplifier module is priced at $1.60 in quantities of 10,000, and is fully RF tested prior to shipping.
