AMREL Releases New Series Of Switching Power Supplies

August 04, 2009 by Jeff Shepard

American Reliance Inc. (AMREL) announced its new SPS Bonafide series of programmable switching power supplies. According to the company, in addition to high power density, the Bonafide offers optimized cooling for increased reliability and zero-stacking, as well as what is described as its exclusive 800 and 1000Vdc capabilities.

The 45~440Hz interleaved 85~265V wide PFC ac input provides an extremely flexible front end. Users can power their DUT using standard ac voltages, including the military/defense/avionics sectors, which require a 400Hz ac frequency.

Multi-channel systems can utilize the Bonafide’s master-slave capability, controlling up to 31 units through a single PC connection. Expanding power is as easy as 1-2-3.

Simply transform AMREL’s similarly rated units into a higher dc power source by connecting the auto-current summing analog signals between them. Remote inhibit (shutdown) and fault output signal capabilities enable system-level protection considerations and lights-out testing preventive measures.

AMREL’s cost-effective Bonafide Basic models provide a multitude of control methods, such as: local encoder for bench-top use; user selectable 0~5Vdc/10Vdc external analog programming for PLC or DAQ systems; USB, RS-232/RS-485, LabVIEW/LabWindows drivers, and standard SCPI; and commands for ATE system integration or automated testing.

AMREL’s feature-packed Bonafide Premium models include an advanced digital platform with: RS-232, USB, GPIB & Ethernet interfaces (standard drivers and SCPI command set included); user-friendly keypad and encoder for simple operation; and 16-bit high-resolution VFD display for measurement read back.

Additional Premium features include digital closed-case calibration, VLIST & ILIST Auto-sequencing stored in 4 profiles, 3 protection modes (OV/OC/OT), advanced fault protection (interlock control, fault output signal, programmable OVP and OCP), in-field firmware upgrades, and an extensive function menu.
