American Power Conversion Offers “Plug and Play” Versions of Its InfraStruXure® Architecture

November 30, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

American Power Conversion Corp. (APC) announced the availability of its InfraStruXure® architecture in a variety of pre-configured, fully assembled and tested offerings for wiring closets and small IT rooms, including branch offices. These new systems increase the speed of the design process by fully integrating the uninterruptible power supply (UPS), rack, and rack-mount power distribution in a single part number, allowing for quick and easy selection and deployment for most IT environments. These systems are available in 2-post, 4-post, or full rack enclosure options and represent APC's first "roll-in-place" solutions that ship fully assembled, wired and tested.

"Our new pre-configured systems give our channel partners and customers the ability to easily order and install integrated rack and power solutions for their IT environments," said Jim Simonelli, Vice President of APC's Solutions Delivery Group. "With InfraStruXure's compact rack-based design, companies can realize lower initial capital costs and operating costs by right-sizing their power and rack combinations."

Each pre-configured InfraStruXure system includes APC's Rack Manager device. This system level management device provides UPS and rack environmental status, such as temperature and humidity levels, all through a single IP address at the front of the rack.

The new InfraStruXure systems are available with UPSs ranging from 1.5 to 16.0 kVA (1.0 to 12.8 kW). Additionally, each system includes rack power distribution units, cable management brackets, temperature monitoring, built-in management capabilities, and optional service offerings. The InfraStruXure design also allows users to purchase additional power or run-time capacity when needed, eliminating the need to oversize for future growth.

The newly designed bundled systems are available immediately in North America.
