Amber Solutions Introduces Newly-Patented AC/DC Enabler and AC Switch
Amber Solutions announces solid-state digital control of electricity is now possible in every powered product.
Amber Solutions is a leading developer of unique, patented technologies focusing on the control of electricity in solid-state architecture. Last month, the company announced that solid-state digital control of electricity is now available in every device, appliance, power cord, and endpoint. Amber’s hyper-intelligent architecture enhances product quality and eliminates the use of archaic electro-mechanical parts (electrolytics, transformers, magnetics, relays & more).
The Dublin, California-based company is institutionalizing the use of smaller and more reliable discreet solid-state architecture, with a clear path to siliconization. Amber’s latest technological advances in this arena have heralded the release of its newly-patented AC/DC Enabler and AC Switch.

The Amber AC/DC Enabler
Amber’s new Enabler eliminates the conventional process of transforming and rectifying the AC sine wave.
The solution reduces the size from the conventional brick, increases efficiency and reliability of power conversion, provides a wide and dynamic input voltage range, and on-demand output voltage and safety protections.
The patented, UL-certified Enabler is a globally-compatible 30mm x 15mm x 8mm solid-state digital power management and control system. It is suitable for a wide range of applications and designed for internal, low-power solutions, specifically optimization of IoT functions in wired smart products. When coupled with the recently-patented Amber AC Switch, it stands as an industry first for electricity control and delivery within the last 70 years.
Technical details for this device include:
- Output power ranging from 0.2W to 15W
- Dynamic input voltage from 50V to 480V
- On-demand output voltage at or between 3.3V, 5V, 12V
- Highest power density at 5W per cubic inch
- Short circuit, over-voltage, and thermal protection
The Amber AC Switch
Amber's patented AC Switch does not need relays/TRIACs in conventional power control and does not require traditional housekeeping AC/DC power supplies. This platform is scalable and with a capability of 4000W can be configured for many devices worldwide including circuit breakers, wall switches, protection devices, lighting control, outlets, motors and more.
Technical details for the AC Switch Platform include:
- Wide input voltage range
- Arc free, high-speed switching, which is 3000x faster than conventional switching
- Load independent control switch (inductive load, capacitive load, etc.)
- Embedded and programmable surge, voltage, temperature, short circuit and over current protection
- Embedded power signature identifier
- Configurable for SPST (Single Pull Single Throw) or SPDT (Single Pull Double Throw)
- Universal dimming for motor control and various light bulb "chemistry"
The product can be used in circuit breakers, for industrial control, building electrical infrastructure, appliances, motor control, environmental control, smart grid, lighting control, and surge protection devices (SPDs).
“Amber’s innovation in solid-state technology is an advanced Digital Power Management and Control system (DPMC) - a tiny solid-state device that efficiently runs power to highly sophisticated micro-controllers, processors and RF devices directly from the AC main,” said Thar Casey, Amber Solutions Founder, President, and CEO. Amber offers electricians and builders capability improvements and size-reduction of power management and control elements. This means that existing gang boxes worldwide can be built to be more reliable, smart, and do not need new installation infrastructure.
Using solid-state electrification, Amber is enabling the creation of unique smart ecosystems with full integration of all parts of a building's electrical infrastructure, appliances, and other powered devices.
