Alpha Technologies Announces New Line Power Product that Uses Conventional 48V Power
Alpha Technologies Ltd. announced the eLimiter™, a line power system that enables the Distributed Antenna System (DAS) provider to distribute 48V from the DAS Neutral Host to power remote equipment.
"Powering the remote nodes, or antenna, is one of the bigger issues with indoor DAS networks," commented Michael Burkhalter, Vice President of US Telecom Sales for Alpha. "In public venues, there is a need to minimize the size and number of antenna and supporting power equipment. The eLimiter solves the power equipment problem by eliminating the need for UPS and batteries at each node. It powers the nodes by using the power and battery system at the neutral host site to safely deliver 48V over composite fiber/copper cable. In addition to being a green solution, the eLimiter approach raises the expectations for reliability by focusing the battery support and maintenance on the centralized site at the neutral host site or base station."
The eLimiter 100VA Power Limited Distribution System distributes 48V power from a centralized power system to deliver current over copper cable pairs to power remote nodes. A single 1RU high eLimiter can support up to 24 remote nodes. The eLimiter is a safe, Class 2 rated device, making it possible for cables connected to the eLimiter to be installed and maintained by any telecom technician.
