AEC-Q100-2 Ultra-Low Quiescent Current Voltage Regulator

January 29, 2019 by Paul Shepard

Torex Semiconductor Ltd. has launched the XD6506 as a new series of voltage regulator. The XD6506 series are positive voltage LDO regulators manufactured using CMOS processes. The series achieves ultra-low supply current, 0.8μA (typical) and consists of a reference voltage source, an error amplifier, a current foldback circuit, and a phase compensation circuit plus a driver transistor.

Applications are expected to include; Car navigation systems, Car audios, Automotive ECU, and other automotive equipment.

The output voltage is selectable in 0.1V increments within the range of 1.2V to 5V using laser trimming technologies. The series is also compatible with low ESR ceramic capacitors, which give added output stability.

The current limiter's fold-back circuit also operates as a short protect for the output current limiter and the output pin.

Furthermore, the stand-by function allows the output of the regulator to be turned off, resulting in greatly reduced power consumption.

Summary of specifications:

  • Maximum output current is 150mA
  • Low power consumption of 0.8μA
  • Stand-by current is less than 0.1μA
  • Dropout voltage of 360mV@IOUT=100mA and VOUT=3.3V
  • Operating input voltage range of 5V to 6.0V
  • Output voltage range of2V to 5.0V, in 0.1V steps
  • Output accuracy is ±2.0% (1.5V<VOUT≦0V)
    • ±30mA (1.2≦VOUT≦5V)
  • Integrated current limit circuit
  • Low ESR ceramic capacitor compatible
  • Operating Temperature range of -40℃ to +105℃
  • SOT-25 package
  • EU RoHS Compliant and Pb Free
