Absopulse Intros New RWY72 DC/DC Converter
Absopulse Electronics Ltd. (Carp, ON) announced its new RWY72 dual-output dc/dc converter developed to meet the stringent requirements for electrical and electronic equipment used on rolling stock. The power supply is suitable for use in mining, marine, military and other adverse environments where resistance against humidity, moisture, shock and vibration are required.
The RWY72 delivers 150W of precision-regulated dc output from a 120Vdc input (67Vdc to 138Vdc range), using a switch-mode power conversion forward topology. The two outputs are floating and are isolated from the chassis and from each other for 1,500Vdc. Depending upon application requirements, the outputs can be used as two separate outputs, connected in series to double the voltage or connected in parallel to provide higher current.
Combined line-and-load regulation is ±1 percent from no-load to full-load for the main output, with the secondary output tracking. The RWY72 operates within a -40 to +70 degrees C temperature range without derating, with 1.7 percent derating per degree C up to 100 degrees C. Measuring 7.0in x 4.1in x 2.26in, the RWY72 is fully encapsulated in a thermally conductive MIL-spec silicon-rubber compound, and weighs 1.27kg. The MTBF typically exceeds 300,000 hours at 45 degrees C.
Other converters in this series include the RWY70 and RWY105. The RWY72 is priced at $244 in quantities of 100.
