Absopulse Debuts POL 400 AC-DC Power Supply

June 28, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. (Carp, Ontario, Canada) debuted its new POL 400, a recent addition to its POL Series of conduction-cooled ac-dc power supplies. The high-density unit provides a complete 400 W power solution in a compact 1.9 in x 4.5 in x 9.13 in enclosure and weighs 2.2 kg. The POL 400 is suitable for EMI sensitive, harsh-environment applications.

ThePOL 400 power supply delivers 12 Vdc/33 A, 24 Vdc/17 A, 36 Vdc/12 A or 48 Vdc/9 A. It operates from a switch-selectable ac power source of 115 Vac/230 Vac at 47 Hz to 440 Hz, or a dc-input range of 250 Vdc to 370 Vdc. Full encapsulation with a thermally conductive MIL-spec silicon rubber compound ensures immunity to shock, vibration, humidity, moisture, dust and insects. Base plate conduction cooling allows for operation to full specification in a -40 °C to +70 °C cold-plate temperature range. EMI performance meets the requirements for EN55022 Class B.

The POL 400 is designed to meet EN 60950 and related standards. The unit features inrush current limiting and surge protection on the input. Output protection includes current limiting with short-circuit protection and thermal shutdown with automatic recovery in case of continuous overload. Combined line and load regulation are ±1% from no-load to full load. Efficiency is a minimum of 80%.

The POL 400 is priced at $389.00 for quantities of 100.
