Aavid-Thermalloy Expands Line of DC-DC Converter Heat Sinks For 1/8th Brick Form Factors
Aavid Thermalloy, LLC announced the availability of heat sinks for industry standard 1/8 brick form factors. The company claims that, despite significant gains in converter efficiency, smaller eighth brick packages still pose thermal challenges due to increased power density. Aavid’s newly expanded line of heat sinks are said to help engineers overcome the power density hurdle with complete off-the-shelf cooling solutions for industry standard eighth brick converters.
The company claims that, unlike other converter heat sinks, its designs feature thin fin geometry to improve thermal performance which is said to reduce temperature for increased reliability. Thinner fins are also said to reduce pressure drop, thereby improving system airflow and lowering fan costs. In addition, all heat sinks are ready for mounting with interface material pre-applied which streamlines procurement and assembly. Models are available in both lengthwise and crosswise airflow directions and come in three different heights for a precise match to a specific application.
Parts will be available in December with prices starting at $2.00 for OEM quantities of 1000 pieces. Samples are available upon request.
