350W Military Power Factor Correction Modules

May 24, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

SynQor, Inc. announces the release of its newest military PFC module, a power factor correction building block for ac-dc power conversion. When the PFC is used with SynQor's ac line filter, a hold-up capacitor and SynQor's high-efficiency dc-dc converters, it draws a nearly perfect sinusoidal current (PF>0.99) from a single phase ac input and provides a complete front-end system that is designed to comply with MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1399 and MIL-STD-461 (with ac filter).

The MPFC-U-390-QP and MPFC-115-270-QP deliver 350W of output power in an industry standard quarter-brick package (1.5" x 2.4" x 0.5") while achieving 95% efficiency at full load. The MPFC-U-390-QP accepts universal input voltage range of 85- to 264-Vrms with a 390-Vdc output. The MPFC-115-270-QP operates from 85- to 180-Vrms with 270-Vdc output. Both operate through the 50/60/400/800 Hz frequency ranges, draw an ac current with only 3% THD, have a power enable/disable feature and provide a 10-Vdc auxiliary bias supply.

Offered in a fully encased and ruggedized package, this PFC module can operate from -55 to +100 degrees C baseplate temperature and it is perfectly suited for the harsh environments seen in many Military and Aerospace applications that demand a low profile, extended temperature operation in a small space. SynQor's Military PFC's are available for evaluation and purchase.
