New Products May 25, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

Crane Aerospace & Electronics, has announced that the 25-Watt Interpoint MFK Series dc-dc converters are now designated Class H per Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) performance specifications. Class H is a standard military quality level of MIL-PRF-38534.

“Many of our customers require Class H dc-dc converters,” explains Bob Myers, Senior Director of Modular Power. “This assures them that the converters are guaranteed to meet the requirements of MIL-PRF 38534 and MIL-STD-883.” Crane offers MFK Class H dc-dc converters with two SMD numbers – SMD 5962-14210 for MFK singles and SMD 5962-14211 for MFK duals.

These converters are up to 87% efficiency, and deliver up to 42 W/in3. They operate over an input range of 16- to 50-Vdc. Output options include single outputs of 1.8, 2.5, 3.3, 5, 12, 15 and 28 Volts and dual outputs of ±5, ±7, ±12 and ±15 Volts. These fully-isolated converters include magnetic feedback and have an operating temperature range of -55 to +125 degrees.

Operating with a fixed switching frequency of 500kHz, these converters can withstand a transient of 65V for up to one second. They include; Inhibit and sync function; Output short circuit protection; and Undervoltage lockout. These hermetically-sealed dc-dc converters measure; Case, 1.460 × 1.130 × 0.360 inches (37.08 × 28.70 × 9.14 mm) and Flanged, 2.005 × 1.130 × 0.360 inches (50.93 × 28.70 × 9.14 mm).
