1kW and 1.5kW Supplies Operate from AC or DC Inputs

TDK Corporation has developed new high power models in the RWS-B Series, the small, simple function ac-dc high efficiency power supply, in the TDK-Lambda brand: 1000W output model (RWS1000B) and 1500W output model (RWS1500B). These two models have been added to the lineup that ranges from 50W to 600W output models. TDK-Lambda Corporation began sales of these new higher-power models in March.

The RWS-B Series is a simple function power supply with its basic performance maintained and additional functions optimized. In addition, the small and high efficiency power supply will improve efficiency under light loads and reduce power consumption at standby mode, thereby contributing to the reduction of the environmental burden from low power consumption to high power consumption.

RWS1000B/RWS1500B has an expected product life of more than five years, which follows the product concept of the RWS-B Series and maintains the same reliability in a severe environment. In addition, this model is compliant with Class B noise regulations, which achieves simple noise reduction for customers’ equipment.

In addition to the standard type, the ME option items compliance with medical safety standard and other options are available. Applications of the RWS1000B/RWS1500B are expected to include industrial/commercial automatic instruments, measuring instruments, ICT equipment, and other general industrial equipment.

Main features and benefits include: Simple function model with its basic performance maintained and additional functions optimized; About 30% smaller than the current HWS Series of the same power model; Long life: electrolytic capacitor's estimated life is five years or more (at an ambient temperature of 40 degrees C, Io = 100%, 24h); Reduced noise (compliant with Class B noise regulations); Adoption of the terminal board for two-way mounting, which is easy to handle for the output terminal; ME option items compliance with medical safety standard.

Key specifications include: input voltage range of 85- to 265-Vac or 120- to 340-Vdc; 88% typical efficiency, nominal output voltages available include 12-, 15-, 24-, 36- and 48-Vdc; operating temperature range of -20 to 60 degrees C, 100% power up to 50 degrees C; Meets UL60950-1, CSA C22.2 No.60950-1, EN60950-1; dimensions are 127 × 63 × 198 mm for 1kW units and 127 × 63 × 261 mm for 1.5kW units.
