Zinc Matrix Power Changes Name to ZPower, Inc.

July 29, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Zinc Matrix Power announced that the company name is now ZPower, Inc. The name change reflects one of several key elements in the company’s go-to-market strategy as they move from pilot production to high-volume battery manufacturing in 2008.

According to the company, the name "Zpower" represents the contemporary solution offered by their "revolutionary" silver-zinc battery technology. The company claims that the new name more readily promotes brand recognition as it serves the dual purpose of overall company name and a product name. Under the new name, ZPower, will continue to develop its rechargeable silver-zinc battery which is said to provide a 30% increase in energy density over traditional lithium-ion batteries. This value proposition has recently attracted the attention of several Tier One electronics manufacturers. These companies will continue working with ZPower to incorporate its batteries in their future products, beginning in 2008. The batteries will be called ZPower™ batteries.

Though the company name has changed, the mission of ZPower remains the same. Company President and CEO, Dr. Ross Dueber, said that ZPower is committed to becoming the leading global provider of silver-zinc rechargeable battery technology. "We feel the new company name captures the energy and purpose that drives our company. Our goal remains clearly established. We will continue innovating change in the battery technology field, offering high performance, consumer safety features and clean technology. Those facets of our technology are as important to us now as they ever were."
