ZAP Power Systems (Sebastopol, CA) has signed a marketing agreement with Smith & Wesson (Springfield, MA) under which Smith & Wesson will be the exclusive law enforcement bicycle platform for ZAP's patented electric motor system. Smith & Wesson has likewise agreed to sell its bicycles for electric applications exclusively to ZAP. The companies have also agreed to cooperate on promotions, mailings, trade shows, advertising and training. "ZAP is extremely pleased with the quality and specifications of Smith & Wesson's bicycles," stated Brooks Van Holt, manager of ZAP's law enforcement products. "With 147 years experience in law enforcement, Smith & Wesson has a unique knowledge of what the market wants. Our electric bike customers will appreciate the craftsmanship of bicycles that were developed specifically for and by law enforcement."
