Xcel Energy (Minneapolis, MN) reported ongoing earnings for the first quarter 2002 of $0.31 per share, excluding special charges, compared with $0.61 per share for the same period in 2001. Total earnings were $0.29 per share for the first quarter of 2002.
"The first quarter of 2002 presented numerous challenges, and we are responding to those challenges in both our regulated and nonregulated operations," said Xcel Energy Chairman, President and CEO Wayne Brunetti. "Our 2002 annual earnings target remains $2.30 to $2.40 per share."
