WiTricity Bolsters Team to Expand Semiconductor Offering

September 14, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

WiTricity today announced two key management hires: Mayur Mehta, vice president of semiconductor products, and Kristina O'Connell, vice president of marketing. Both hires are effective immediately. Mehta will be working out of the company's Austin Development Center and is charged with leading development of WiTricity's semiconductor solutions. O'Connell is based at the organization's Watertown headquarters and is responsible for increasing WiTricity's brand awareness and recognition, especially as it relates to the semiconductor market and the numerous applications for wireless power.

These strategic additions to the leadership team come at a time of strong momentum for WiTricity as it continues to expand its magnetic resonance-based offerings, enabling global brands to commercialize wireless power over distance. Mehta and O'Connell both bring unique backgrounds to the organization that will expand WiTricity's offerings and widen its foothold in the wireless power market.

Mehta brings with him decades of relevant expertise, having previously developed complex, mixed-signal integrated chips and systems leading the digital power management and engineering teams at Intersil, a market leader in power management and precision analog technology. O’Connell will draw from her wealth of marketing and branding experience, having led the marketing function for a wide array of technology companies spanning networking, storage, enterprise software and consumer web services. Most recently, she held the position of VP of marketing for Korrio.

“Consumers are demanding a streamlined charging experience across their connected lives -- from smartphones and wearables to medical devices and electric vehicles -- and global brands are looking for help when it comes to fast development of the technology,” said Alex Gruzen, CEO, WiTricity. “Our latest semiconductor solutions are key to helping global brands commercialize magnetic resonance effectively and we're thrilled to welcome both Mayur and Kristina as we continue to build our solution portfolio. WiTricity has a mission to bring to life a world free from wires and having Mayur and Kristina on board will help us achieve that mission. We look forward to the positive impact they will have on our organization, partners and customers."

Mehta received his BS in electrical engineering at Bombay University in India and his MS in electrical engineering at Louisiana State University. O’Connell is a Salem State University graduate where she received her BS in business administration and marketing.
