Vishay Reports Higher First-Quarter 2004 Sales
Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) reported that sales for its first quarter increased 20 percent year-over-year. Vishay posted sales of $640.9 million for the first quarter, an increase of 13 percent sequentially from the fourth-quarter's $567.2 million.
Diluted earnings per share in the first quarter reached $0.20, compared with $0.04 for the same quarter a year ago, and $0.06 in the fourth quarter. Bookings also grew by 31 percent year-over-year to $733 million. The book-to-bill ratio for the first quarter was 1.14, and backlog increased by $88 million during the first quarter to $640 million.
"I'm extremely pleased to report that business is strong in all Vishay product lines," said Felix Zandman, chairman and CEO. "For both the active and passive component business segments, book-to-bill ratios were greater than 1.0 for each month during the quarter. This trend continued during April."
