USPTO Rejects All Modular Power Supply Patent Claims in Streak Patent
Antec, Inc. announced that it has received a favorable decision by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO,) which rejects all claims in connection with Streak Products, Inc.’s patent for a "modular power supply."
In 2008, Streak (formerly Ultra Products, Inc.) initiated suit against nearly every modular power supply (MPSU) manufacturer selling in the US in an attempt to lay claim to the MPSU market. The USPTO recently rejected all nine claims of Patent 7,133,293 as anticipated, for a third time.
Antec spearheaded this successful Inter-Parties Re-examination of this patent as a critical part of its multi-tiered litigation strategy, bringing together an "Alliance" of competing manufacturers in a multi-national, multi-tiered defense effort to maintain affordable power supply solutions for all consumers.
Alliance members include: Antec Inc., Enermax Technology Corp., Enermax USA Corp., FSP Group USA Corp., Mushkin Inc., Sea Sonic Electronics Co. Ltd., Seasonic Electronics Inc., SPI Electronic Co. Ltd. d/b/a FSP Group Inc., Tagan Technology Co., Topower Computer Industrial Co. Ltd., and Topower Computer (USA) Inc. d/b/a E-Power Technology/PCMCIS.
"As a part of its decision, the USPTO accepted 37 of 49 arguments advanced by Antec, based on numerous prior art references, ranging from technical specifications to internet product reviews," Daniel S. Mount, counsel for the Alliance.
