February 05, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Ultralife Batteries Inc. (Newark, NY) announced that it has received its first major OEM order for its polymer rechargeable cells in a new portable wireless communications application. The initial order is valued at over $800,000, and shipments are expected to begin in February 2001 with scheduled deliveries through the end of the year. Follow-on orders of increased size are anticipated.

John Kavazanjian, Ultralife's president and CEO, commented, “This order is a major milestone and achievement supporting our polymer rechargeable growth strategy of building relationships with OEMs whose applications can most benefit from the thin, light, flexible and high-energy characteristics our polymer cells provide. It further supports Ultralife's intent to be a major supplier of high-performance polymer cells and batteries into the rapidly growing wireless markets."
