TNB Installs Power Measurement EEM System

August 24, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Electricity utility company Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB, Malaysia) has commissioned an enterprise energy management (EEM) system from Power Measurement Ltd. (Victoria, BC, Canada) to help optimize power quality and reliability across its national distribution network. Under the terms of the agreement, Power Measurement’s Malaysian agent, SFG Technology Sdn Bhd, will supply, install, test and commission the EEM system, consisting of a network of ION® intelligent energy meters and web-enabled software.

Approximately 60 substations will be equipped with ION 7600 energy meters, and four regional "power quality hubs" will be established to provide regional support. Once complete, the EEM system will automatically monitor and report on power quality conditions at each substation to help TNB staff maximize reliability through early warning, tracking and troubleshooting of events.
