Tecogen Inc. (Waltham, MA) announced that its 60kW and 75kW natural-gas-powered cogeneration systems will meet a new standard governing interconnections between non-utility-owned distributed generation (DG) and the distribution grid. Known in its draft form as IEEE P1547/D07, the new standard should help ease some of the permitting difficulties that DG manufacturers have faced in the past.
"The importance of this new standard cannot be overstated," commented Tecogen President and COO Bob Panora. "We expect that it will help ease what has typically been a very difficult, very onerous permitting step. Overcoming that hurdle should help drive robust growth in the DG market in the coming years."
