STMicroelectronics Inc. (ST, Geneva, Switzerland) announced a cooperative marketing initiative with Cooper Electronic Technologies (Boynton Beach, FL) through its electronics business unit, Cooper Electronic Technologies, focusing on the global telecommunications market.

STMicroelectronics and Cooper Bussmann (St. Louis, MO) will cooperate in promoting complementary telecom products, and provide a complete protection solution set to telecom customers. STMicroelectronics is considered a leading supplier of silicon protection products for telecom use, while Cooper Bussmann is a leading supplier of telecom fuses.

"This relationship will be of significance to all of our customers to help them easily design full protection solutions complying with worldwide telecom standards," said STMicroelectronics ASD and Discrete Division General Manager Ricardo de Sa Earp.

"Each company will continue to manufacture and sell their own branded products, but joint application testing creates a coordinated protection solution that practically eliminates the design risk associated with telecom circuit protection," stated Cooper Electronic Technologies Vice President of Sales Helio Sakaya.
