South Wales Police Travel On ZAP Electric Bikes

September 27, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

The New South Wales Police Services are using 12 Zapworld.Com (Sebastopol, CA) electric bikes to travel through traffic and respond to calls at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. According to consultant Ted Wilson, although there are many types of vehicles available for troops in the Olympic Village, "the ZAP bikes were unanimously voted the most appropriate and useful vehicle at the games. They are not only popular with the cops but are attracting heaps of attention from the public." ZAP patrol bikes can travel up to 20 miles an hour. Over 250 law enforcement, security and medical services have the ZAP system in use.
