SKC Begins Volume Production of Lithium-Polymer Battery

SKC Co. Ltd. (Seoul, Korea) reported that it has begun mass production of a lithium-ion polymer battery for PDAs, notebook PCs and digital cameras. SKC has completed installation of assembly lines and set up a system for monthly production of 250,000 cells. Expansion of the lines will be undertaken in phases. The company is planning to reach a monthly capacity of one million cells by 2003, and hopes to reach sales of more than $200.0 billion in 2005 from the battery section.
