Siliconix and Fairchild Settle Patent Lawsuit

August 11, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Siliconix Inc. (Santa Clara, CA), a subsidiary of Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA), announced that it has settled its patent-infringement lawsuit against Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc. (South Portland, ME). Although specific terms of the settlement were not disclosed, Siliconix said it has granted Fairchild a license for two of its patents.

Siliconix filed the suit in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, alleging that certain Fairchild products infringed two Siliconix patents related to power trench MOSFET products. Siliconix said the settlement is the result of the companies' desire to establish a long-term cooperative business relationship and to avoid future litigation.
