Siemens Solar Wins Washington Governor's Award

Siemens Solar Industries LP (Camarillo, CA) has been named a recipient of the 2001 Washington State Governor's Award for

pollution prevention and sustainable practices. The award was presented to Siemens Solar at the State Capitol Building in Olympia, Washington.

In partnership with the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, the company reduced power consumption and argon consumption, and dramatically reduced scrap silicon and quartz, as well as chemical use.

"Concurrently, we've increased productivity by 15 percent and have saved more than $2.0 million to date in 2001," stated Chet Farris, executive vice president and COO of Siemens Solar.
