Semitrex Opens Two New Semiconductor Design Centers

February 09, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

Semitrex has established two new design centers: a power design center in Irvine, California and a mixed-signal design center in Milan, Italy. These two new facilities enable Semitrex to expand its global presence and build its technical design team to meet the demand for its award-winning, energy-efficient power supply technologies. The announcement of the new design centers comes on the heels of Semitrex opening a Silicon Valley office and establishing an International Technical Advisory Board.

Dedicated to the digital design of Semitrex's TRONIUM® Power Supply System(s) on a Chip® (PSSoC®) products, the new mixed-signal/analog integrated circuit (IC) design centers are equipped with labs featuring state-of-the-art technologies. The centers will be the key drivers of the company's global product roadmap, spearheading the creation of next-generation power conversion products to meet the power demands of the future.

Strategically located in Irvine's 'Technology Corridor,' the new Southern California power design center allows the company to expand its presence in the region and tap into the area's skilled engineering resources. Semitrex's design team works with highly advanced power conversion technologies, which provide a total solution breakthrough that brings both energy and design efficiencies to all manner of end markets and equipment. The focus of the center will be the analog side of the digitally controlled switched-capacitor ac-dc/dc-dc converters, which boost efficiency in power supplies.

The opening of the new European mixed-signal design center in Milan underscores the company's commitment to solving the problem of energy waste worldwide -- and builds on its efforts to help solve Europe's $15 billion per year vampire load crisis. Mixed-signal analog chips, which include digital power control designs, will be the focus of the European design center.

According to Michael H. Freeman, J.D., Semitrex CEO/CTO, "With energy consumption at an all-time high and the emergence of new standards for energy efficiency, it's crucial that our customers have access to cutting-edge technologies and products to tackle these challenges. Our TRONIUM suite of innovative power management solutions eliminates energy waste today, while also targeting the higher efficiency power demands of the futures. The new design centers position us to shape our game-changing technologies into global solutions."
