February 26, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

SatCon Technology Corp. (Cambridge, MA) announced that it has received a $1.2 million purchase order for 3MW of power conditioning systems for fuel cell power generation. The UL1741-compliant, three-phase, multi-mode inverters will provide power conversion and conditioning and the electrical balance of plant for a fuel cell power generation system. The units are to be delivered in 2003.

"We continue to see a great opportunity in distributed power generation," said SatCon President and Chief Executive Officer David Eisenhaure. "In addition to hydrogen-based distributed power generation, we are also working on components for hydrogen-powered cars with domestic and international automobile manufactures, and through the Department of Energy with our Advanced Integrated Power Module."
