SatCon Obtains Order for Industrial UPS System

November 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

SatCon Technology Corp. (Cambridge, MA) announced it has received a $1.0 million order for its StarSine MegaPower uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system. The MegaPower UPS system combines SatCon power converters, controls and a flywheel with a diesel generator to provide 2.0MW of uninterruptible power during voltage sags, surges, brownouts or blackouts.

"We introduced the StarSine MegaPower UPS system in January 2001 and have worked diligently to secure our first order by the end of the calendar year and anticipate delivering these systems by the end of the second quarter of 2002," said David Eisenhaure, SatCon president and CEO. "With businesses becoming more dependent on electricity to manage everything from data processing to automated manufacturing, we believe that there is a growing need for SatCon's unique UPS system to manage power during power outages."
