RCD enters Standard Disc Capacitor Market

May 19, 2015 by Jeff Shepard

RCD Components, Inc. announced today the introduction of their CD series of standard ceramic disc capacitors. RCD's CD series feature a wide range of sizes from 4mm (.157") to 43mm (1.69") in diameter, available in many dielectrics including C0G, N80, N150, N220, N4700, SL, X5U, X7R, Y5P, Y5T, Y5V and Y6U, voltages up to 60KV, with capacitance tolerances to as tight as 1% and cap values up to 1uF. Product is flame retardant and offers good humidity performance and high dielectric strength as well as excellent behavior with pulse and fast discharge conditions, and a low dissipation factor.

“We’ve been making disc capacitors for years but only on a somewhat custom basis for select customers and we decided to develop a wide range of high performance product that would offer a cost-savings and that could be utilized by our wide account base, especially those with high voltage requirements that we already service with our high voltage resistor and inductor products”, stated MaryJo Allen, National Sales Manager at RCD.

Applications include high voltage power supplies, pulse generators, dividers, X-Ray equipment, RF generators, laser systems, EMI/RFI filters, snubber circuits, lighting ballasts, ionizing equipment and various coupling/decoupling devices including telecom and internet systems. Volume production is available immediately.
